Red Hat’s Fedora Core 6 vs. Terra Soft’s Yellow Dog Linux 5 on Sony’s PlayStation 3

Running Fedora Core 6 on the Sony PlayStation3 (PS3) allows you to use the PS3 just as you would a Linux-based desktop or light-weight server. It’s incredibly smooth, powerful, and well-supported. Installing and configuring FC6 takes twice as long as Yellow Dog Linux (YDL5) and isn’t nearly as easy if you don’t have Linux experience. If you’re new to Linux but want a fairly decent OS on your PS3, I’d recommend YDL5 for the PS3. It’s easier to install and easier to immediately use. It requires 720p, but supports all your devices and software immediately, and doesn’t require the same configuration steps that FC6 does.
